Cable Care

Properly looking after your cables ensures they will give you a lifetime of use.

There are the more obvious recommendations such as:

- Keeping the tips clean and dry.

- Take care when removing the cable from equipment, holding the connector rather than the cable and not using excessive force.

However, the most important piece of advice is to coil your cable properly for storage when not in use.

Coiling a cable is a skill and may take a little practice, but once you have it down you'll be thankful for taking the time to learn.

In the video opposite we firstly show you what not to do when wrapping cables, then demonstrate the two most common ways of coiling.

It is commonly accepted that the over-under technique (the final technique shown in the video) is the most effective, however in reality either method works effectively.
